Sheep
We have four breeds of sheep. Our combined flock numbers 1,900 ewes, 25 rams and we anticipate a total of 3,000 lambs, 90% of which are born in the spring. The sheep rotate across in excess of 400 acres.
Hebrideans - They produce a small carcass which grows at half the speed of the Lleyn, this makes it more expensive to produce, however this is our best tasting lamb. This ancient breed of sheep originates from the Hebrides.
Lleyns - These sheep produce exceptionally fine meat, and a slightly bigger carcass than the Hebrideans. The breed originates from the Lleyn peninsula in Wales. Until recently they were listed as a rare breed.
Wiltshire - They have the unusual feature that they do not need shearing as their wool falls out in spring. They are good mothers, have high fertility and are relatively intelligent compared to most other sheep.
Polled Dorset - By crossing the polled Dorset with our smaller slow growing breeds we are aiming to produce richer type lamb all year round.
