The poultry enterprise is in the early stages and is based on traditional breeds for meat and eggs. We are trying a wide selection of different chicken, ducks - all year, geese and turkey - seasonally, as well as game such as wild pigeon and pheasant from time to time.
We have two reasons why we have poultry: to clean and fertilise the fields whilst they rotate around the farm and, to provide wonderful tasting birds and eggs.
Our belief that slower grown animals produce better meat is carried through to our poultry. For example, our chickens are ready for the table in 100 days, unlike the high density, fast growing commercial breeds which only take 39.
