Field to Fork Festival 2011

There are county shows and there are food festivals, The British BBQ Championships@Field to Fork FEstival is a combination of the two where visitors experience life on the UK’s leading Biodynamic and organic farm – Laverstoke Park, founded by former F1 world champion Jody Scheckter and Britain's BBQ fanatics and professionals fight it out for the coverted crown of Champion.

This year the show takes place over the weekend of the 30th and 31st of July. The weekend will feature chef demonstrations, local producer stalls, butchery, sausage making and bread making demos, talks on biodynamics and organic farming as well as farm tours- taking in the vineyard, dairy and mozzarella making.

The Amateur and Professional British BBQ championships is this year sponsored by Weber BBQs  while the Field to Fork Festival is again in association with Sainsbury's.

Last year saw a host of amateurs and prodfessional restauranteurs battle it out over the charcoal.

Saturday 3rd July saw the Amateur BBQ World Cup being fought out on the farm – competing nations took to the grills for a shot at the coveted title of amateur BBQ World Champion, facing judgement from a panel of BBQ aficionados, including Iberica restaurant’s Santiago Guererro and The Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire’s Cyrille Pannier, the panel was headed up by Ainsley Harriot, with proceedings MC'd by BBC's Nigel Barden. The 2010 competition was a closely fought battle, but it was Korea who took the crown, just pipping England to the post!

Sunday 4th July was the day of reckoning for some of the UK’s leading chefs who took over on the BBQ’s, battling it out to win the professional British BBQ Championship 2010. The glittering line up included- ROKA, Bistrot Bruno Loubet, Iberica, Pearl, The Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire, Roast, Cinnamon Kitchen and Berties BBQ. They faced a stella judging panel made up of the UKs leading food critics including Charles Campion, Matthew Fort, Lucus Hollweg and Xanthe Clay, who were joined by Raymond Blanc OBE and The Fat Duck’s Ashley Palmer-Watts. It was a closely fought battle on the coals, but the overall winning spot went to Bistrot Bruno Loubet!
