This boneless joint has all the rind removed and comes pre-marinated in an authentic Chinese sauce, which we make fresh from scratch on the farm.
During cooking all the flavours of garlic, soy sauce and spices infuse the meat with subtle flavours and the meat becomes wonderfully caramelised on the outside.
Pork Cooking Instructions
1/ Pre-heat an oven to 200°C (Gas Mark 7 / 390-400°F)
2/ Remove from packaging and place pork in the oven on a wire rack suspended over a tray of water.
3/ Cook for 30 minutes to colour a nice light golden brown
4/ Reduce the oven heat to 150-160°C (Gas Mark 3 / 300-325°F) and cook for a further 2 hours until tender.
5/ Top up water tray as required during cooking.
6/ Remove meat from oven, cover and rest for 10-15 mins
To Serve Chinese Belly Pork
Cut the pork into thin slices and serve with a vegetable stir-fry. Equally at home with noodles, egg fried rice or like crispy duck in rice paper rolls..
Wine suggestion: A dry white, such as Sauvignon Blanc, or white Orvieto will contrast the slight sweetness of the dish. If you prefer red wine serve with a Merlot. This dish also goes great with ale or lager.
